Before & After

After the session is shot, the job is still not complete. The next step (which is usually longer than the session) is to process the images. So, I wanted to give a taste of one image before and after. This one got a little more than most, but it is a good example!

You can see that I didn’t like all of that chaos in the top right. It distracted too much from the subjects. Therefore, I took that out and added some texture! I also gave it a color makeover!

It is also very important to get your settings right in your camera. Many people may think that if I have it wrong in the camera than I can just fix it on my computer. That is very incorrect because if it is too overexposed or underexposed, it will look very funky regardless of fixing. So, if you are trying photography, learn how to take an image first…then move to enhancements!!

So, there you have it. Have a great day and thanks for checking in!

Project 52 – Week 24 – Father

I have totally lucked out in the father category…both with my own father and the father of my own children. So, I will use this post to honor both…

My father – Viet Nam Vet (1st Recon Marines); Little League Baseball coach of 40 years; seven siblings; married for almost 40 years. He is one of the many heroes of my life.

My husband – one of the most caring and loving fathers I know!! He cooks, he cleans, he takes care of the boys well! He embodies the spirit and patience of his late mother! I know she is watching him with pride and love every day! He is my best friend and the love of my life. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to have a family with.

Here is my dad getting inducted in his Little League Hall of Fame:

Here are my boys:

Project 52 – Week 23 – At Home

This week’s image is all about home! I wanted to get some fun images of my boys jumping on the bed or something but that turned into a wrong decision. I am sure most you can understand that!! Sometimes things just aren’t a good idea with a five and two year old. Tears and fighting later (the tears were mostly mine…ha ha) I decided to try something new. So, I brought the youngest out with some bubbles and there you go.

Project 52 – Week 22 – Junk/Recycle

Welcome to another installment of Project 52. If you need a refresher, we have a circle of fab photographers that takes a theme each week and interprets it in their own way. So, please take a few moments to complete the circle and leave some love for these amazing ladies!!!

This week the theme is junk/recycle! So, this was the perfect time to do a project that I have had on my list for some time. Well, it has changed many times over the years!! I picked up this old window years ago in hopes to make a vintage art piece for my home. At that time, I was doing a lot of painting and primitive projects (stack boxes, signs, etc.). This was of course, prior to my kids arriving on the scene!!

Fast forward a few years and the window is still sitting in the basement collecting dust. Now, I have gone full fledged into Photography…a passion that I have had since I was thirteen and had a photography class in school. Anyway, I have also gotten addicted to a site called Pinterest (one of the many site addictions I currently have) and saw this awesome antique window turned into a picture frame. That was it, I knew I was going to do that!! But, a few months have gone by and it still sat on the back burner! Two days ago I was starting to really figure out what I was going to do for my project and it hit me!!! That is usually how it works in my world. So, without further ado, my recycled window turned picture frame…I am grateful that this project has gotten my butt in gear!!!
