Project 52 – Week 32 – I love Bloom

Welcome to week thirty two of Project 52! We have come a long way. We have some fresh photographers in our crew so please stop by and give some love. Now to refresh the brain, this project is to take a theme and interpret it your own way. This week’s theme was a tough one for sure. I had so many fun ideas but never got in gear. Finally, I got the juices going and got my son to join in the fun!

Before I treat you with my image, I wanted to discuss Bloom and why it is important to us. Bloom is forum that was created about a year ago by some pretty amazing photographers. I had been following one of the photographers since I began my trek into the photography world years back and when she was a part of this, I had to join in. It is a forum for Photography lovers…a lot of pro’s are on the site, however we also have a lot of hobbyists too. So, if you fit either of those, please come join us. You won’t regret it!!!

So, now onto my image for the week. Without further ado, here is my interpretation of I LOVE BLOOM!!!

Now, please circle the awesome photographers in my crew…starting with the fab Suzanne Carey!!

Project 52 – Week 31 – Toys-Kids

Here is another addition of Project 52! To refresh the ‘ol brain, this project is about getting some fab photographers to interpret a theme each week. Then we link to each other so there is one complete circle of creative eye candy! That’s about it.

This week is Toys-kids! And for some reason, this one stumped me. I have two boys, in which I fall over toys all of the time! My oldest is a Toy Story obsessed collector and has every Buzz we could find, along with Woody, Jessie and the rest of the crew. But, I still couldn’t get with it. So, I cheated and went into the archives of my computer. To be fair, I took this image on July 4th and hadn’t even gotten it out of Lightroom so this was the first time I really touched it. It isn’t the best image ever, but I still like it just the same.

Now, make sure to complete the circle of these fab photographers. Start with the amazing Natalie Myers of Shay Chic Photography.

Project 52 – Week 30 – Flying/Flight/Journey

Welcome to Project 52 – where some super awesome photographers interpret a theme each week. This week is flying/flight/journey. I decided to show the “journey” my five year old has recently taken. Two weeks ago, he started swim lessons at our local University. But before I get into that, I will start from the beginning…

Two summers ago, my son took his first swim lessons at a local program. It was a fun atmosphere and I saw a new confidence from my three year old that summer. Since we have an in-ground pool, I knew that lessons were important for my little man. However, I still didn’t have the confidence that if he got into trouble he would know what to do. So, I signed him up for another two week session the summer he was four. Again, my son loved the lessons, however again, I did not have the confidence that he could know what to do. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think it is a great program and will put both my boys in it again. However, for my son, I don’t think that it really has started the foundation of swimming, but it will teach him how to improve it.

Fast forward to this year. He is now five and I knew that he needed to swim this summer. So, I have been hearing about West Chester University swim lessons for years. This was where they just throw them in and sink or swim, is what I heard. After doing research, however, it wasn’t anything like that. It was more than double the cost of the other program I was doing, however with a 90% success rate, how could I not try them. Not to mention, that the money goes to scholarships for the swim team and both my husband and I are alumni from there. And, I am on the Alumni Committee, so really, what a great way to support our school. Two weeks ago, if you put my boy in the water without swimmies, he would go right down. Two weeks ago, he was scared to be in the pool without swimmies…TODAY he can swim!!! After four days there he was able to jump in and swim to the side. I was so relieved to see my little man swimming!!! Not to mention the complete pride coming from him!!! This was definitely an awesome decision for me. Next year, both my boys are going. By then I will have a three and six year old and hopefully two swimmers!! Here is a little storyboard of him jumping off the diving board and going to the side!!

Now, please continue the journey and check out what these ladies have to offer!!! You won’t be disappointed!

Project 52 – Week 29 – Old/Antiques

This week’s theme is Old/Antiques. I actually forgot all about the project until the last minute. So, I (again) bribed my boy to get some good pics. You see a theme here right…I am not above bribes! Anyway, the camera that you see in the images actually belonged to my late grandmother, Alma Ruth (she went by her middle name, which her father named her after Babe Ruth…you see why baseball is in my blood)!

Anyway, my grandmother was such a strong woman!! Especially in a time when women were not supposed to be strong. She got divorced in the Sixties, had a very decent white collar job in Philadelphia, and remarried to the love of her life. This was a big deal in her time. Parkinson’s Disease finally caught up to her, but not much kept this lady down. She was meticulous and thrifty! She also had a love of photography. I wish she was here to see my work now…but I know she is somewhere watching…like I said nobody keeps her down!

Project 52 – Week 28 – Night Lights

Here to bring you another installment of Project 52…a fun project that showcases the talent of some fab photographers by interpreting a theme. This weeks theme is Night Lights. Since I went crazy taking sparkler images last week, I figured I would use one of those! Doesn’t this image just scream summer!!! Lounging in the backyard, waiting for fireworks and some fun sparklers!! So fun!

Project 52 – Week 27 – Silhouette

This week’s theme is Silhouette! I did something a little different for this week! I was sitting on our pool patio this past weekend and there was this little puddle that I could see my husband and son’s silhouette in. I ran and grabbed my camera and had them recreate the scene. I think they thought I was a bit wacky, but honestly they know that I am…ha ha.

Project 52 – Week 26 – Independence – Freedom

First I wanted to start with, Happy fourth of July!!!! I know it is still a few days away but most of us celebrate all weekend!!! Now onto Project 52. As a refresher, this project was created to push us in our photography. Each week, a bunch of talented photographers interpret a theme and present it on our blog. We then link to one of the circle and you can follow around until you get back to me. It is a lot of fun and can be very challenging. However, it is amazing how many times I procrastinate and think I will never have anything and then it hits me.

That is what happened this week. I almost went to images I took on the fourth a year ago, but then I finally decided to push myself. I took my boys out to my fave spot next to my house with a few fun props. I got more than I bargained for…apparently the bribe of chocolate ice cream for lunch can do wonders!! Anyway, here are my images. Enjoy and make sure to leave some love for these amazingly talented ladies!!!

Project 52 – Week 25 – Magazine Ad

This weeks theme was a tough one! I had many thoughts about this one…like the ad with the boy and the pineapple piece on his head. My son even got the expression down. But, then I remembered seeing this advertisement from the 1930s and I have always wanted to do this one. I love baseball, as you may know from some previous posts!! So, this just fits in. I did try to stage the image but that was a disaster!!! So, I improvised and I am pretty happy with the final product!

So, here we go. First I will show the original ad (although it was a paper ad and not a magazine ad, still close, right?!)

Now, here is my take on it….
